Prof Timothy Perren

Professor Timothy Perren is a Consultant Medical Oncologist based at St James's University Hospital, part of The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Prof Perren trained in general medicine in London and Stoke on Trent. His oncology training was in Birmingham and at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London. He was appointed consultant medical oncologist at St James's Hospital in Leeds in January 1990. He specialises in the non-surgical treatment of cancers using chemotherapy, hormonal therapy and the new targeted molecular therapies. Prof Perren believes that it is important to take into account the individual needs and situation of each patient and to involve the patient and their family closely in the development of a treatment plan.

Professor Perren specialises in the treatment of breast cancer and gynaecological cancers, including ovarian cancer, cervical cancer and endometrial cancer. He provides treatment for newly diagnosed patients, as well as for those with recurrent or metastatic disease and has gained a high degree of knowledge and understanding of difficult constellation of symptoms that can often accompany cancer and its treatment. Professor Perren’s philosophy of patient care puts the patient at the centre of treatment planning. He believes in discussing all options of treatment before finally coming up with a solution that is best for the individual concerned. 

Professor Perren is a member of various organisations and groups including: fellow of the Royal College of Physicians; He is former Chair of the Joint Colleigate Council for Oncology and Joint Specialty Committee for Medical Oncology at the Royal College of Physicians; He is a member of the   American Society of Clinical Oncology; European Society of Medical Oncology; Association of Cancer Physicians; Yorkshire Cancer Network Breast Group; Yorkshire Cancer Network Gynaecology Group;National Cancer Research Institute Gynaecological Cancer Clinical Studies Group, and the UK Breast Cancer Intergroup.

Miss Zahida Saad

Ms Zahida Saad is a Consultant Breast Surgeon based at Manchester Foundation Trust, South Manchester

Ms Saad trained in breast surgery in Guys Hospital, London and completed Specialist training in London Regional Cancer Centre/ University of Ontario, Ontario, Canada. She originally took the post of Consultant Breast Surgeon in Edinburgh Breast Unit for over a year and after this has been a Consultant Breast Surgeon at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust since 1996.

Ms Saad is a member of the British Association of Surgical Oncologists (Breast Subgroup) and the Medical Protection Society.

Dr Vivek Misra

Dr Vivek Misra is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

Dr Rao Gattamaneni

Dr Rai Gattamaneni is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

Dr Gattamaneni obtained his medical degree in 1973 and joined The Christie in 1976. His clinical interests are radiotherapy treatment of primary and secondary tumours of the brain and the treatment of cancer in young adults via The Young Oncology Unit at The Christie.

Dr Gattamaneni is a member of the Paediatric multidisciplinary team (MDT) at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and the Endocrine and Neuro-Oncology MDTs at The Christie.

Dr Gattamaneni sees private patients at The Christie Clinic and is currently on the research team undertaking in phase II and Phase III trials in sarcoma.

Dr Gattamaneni speaks English, Hindu/Urdu, and Telugu.

Dr Niladri Ghosal

Dr Niladri Ghosal is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based at The North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre, Glan Clywd.

Dr Ghosal has had experience of working in other cancer centres which include The Christie in Manchester, Royal Preston Hospital and Saint James's University Hospital Leeds.  Dr Ghosal treats his patients in the best possible evidence based way and is guided by experience.  He is always available for open and detailed communications with his patients.

Dr Ghosal trained in Clinical Oncology at The Christie Hospital in Manchester and joined as a Consultant in North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre in 2010. 

He is the lead in Acute Oncology services in Wrexham Maelor Hospital, and his main interests are in advanced radiotherapy techniques such as Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) and Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) as well as combining chemotherapy with radiotherapy.

Dr Ghosal is also the lead for implementation of SABR in North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre. He offers all treatments for Breast, Lung and Brain Cancers.

Mr John Murphy

Mr John Murphy is a Consultant Breast Surgeon based at University Hospital South Manchester NHS Trust.

Mr Murphy's practice is located at The Nightingale & Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Centre, one of the largest Breast Units in the UK.

Mr Murphy commenced his career in Breast Surgery in 2001. During his training, he completed prestigious TIG National Fellowships in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery in Newcastle and Cosmetic Reconstructive Surgery in Chester & Liverpool, under the tutorage of leading Plastic and Breast Reconstructive Surgeons. Once he had completed his surgical training in 2013 he was appointed as a Consultant in South Manchester immediately.

Dr Brian Magee

Mr John Leach

Mr John Leach is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Salford Royal Infirmary NHS Trust.

Mr Leach is Clinical Lead for Neurosurgery in Manchester and a member of the Salford Royal Neuro-Oncology MDT. He specialises in brain tumours (primary and metastatic) and spine tumours (metastatic and intradural). He has a particular interested in complex cervical spine surgery. He is a member of both the Society of British Neurosurgeons and the British Association of Spinal Surgeons.

Mr Leach was raised in Sydney, Australia and then moved to the UK to study medicine at both Cambridge and Oxford Universities. He was trained in Neurosurgery at the Radcliffe Infirmary Oxford, gaining further experience both The Royal Melbourne (Prof Andrew Kaye) and The Alfred (Prof Rosenfeld) Hospitals in Melbourne.

With expertise in both neurological microsurgery and spinal fusion, Mr Leach is ideally trained to deal with metastatic disease affecting the brain and whole spine.

Having qualified in medicine at the University of Bristol he underwent a basic surgical training in Australia, Bristol and Plymouth before beginning a career in plastic surgery in 1997. Following experience in the plastic surgery units of Plymouth and Bristol he spent two years in the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit, Glasgow as a head and neck fellow completing a higher doctorate (MD) in head and neck surgery. 

Following this he completed his speciality plastic surgery training programme in the North West leading to a further qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS Plast) and subsequently the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). His fellowships have included the mentor international aesthetic surgery fellowship (King Edward V11 Hospital, Harley Street, London), the North West Aesthetic Fellowship (Chester,Liverool,Manchester) and a 1 year North American plastic surgery fellowship in Toronto (Canada) in head and neck and breast surgery. 

In 2007 Mr Ross took up a consultant post in the NHS in 2007 and having retired from the NHS in 2013 now provides plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic treatments from his private practice based at the BMI Alexandra in Cheadle.

He is actively involved in teaching both undergraduate Medical Students and postgraduate Plastic Surgical Trainees through his role as honorary senior clinical lecturer. He has received widespread recognition for his charitable work including the provision of plastic surgery expertise following the Pakistan Earthquake through the Mobile International Surgical Teams charity.
