Dr David Thomson is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

Dr Thomson qualified from Oxford University Medical School in 2004, where he was awarded the Greenhill Exhibition in Medicine (Trinity College, Oxford) and achieved a First-Class honours degree (2001). He completed core medical training in Oxford and Manchester in 2009 and was then appointed Academic Clinical Fellow/Specialty Registrar in Clinical Oncology in the North West of England (2009-2015). He is now Consultant Clinical Oncologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at The Christie in Manchester.

During a two year Doctor of Medicine (MD) research degree at the University of Manchester (2013-2015), he gained excellent clinical and research experience in technical head and neck radiotherapy and proton beam therapy. He was awarded the RCR Cyclotron Trust Fellowship for clinical experience in proton beam therapy at Massachusetts General Hospital (April 2013); and The Bernstein Family Bursary to support a clinical research Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania (April-June 2014). He has delivered a number of national presentations and is widely published in head and neck cancer.

Dr Thomson is actively involved in medical education and a Clinical and Educational Supervisor. He achieved a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education with Distinction (Edge Hill University, 2015).

Dr Kim Linton is a Consultant Medical Oncologist based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

Dr Linton was awarded a medical degree from the University of Cape Town in 1994 and emigrated to the UK in the following year. She was a senior house officer in both Oncology and Palliative Medicine at Cookridge Hospital and Wheatfields Hospice, Leeds between 1997-2000 and then went on to be a Specialist Registrar in Medical Oncology at The Christie in 2000. In 2007 She gained her PhD in molecular pathology from the University of Manchester. Dr Linton was appointed in 2009 as an honorary medical oncology consultant in Lymphoma at The Christie.

Dr Linton works as a Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Lymphoma at The University of Manchester and The Christie Foundation Trust in Manchester. She co-leads the Medical Oncology Lymphoma Team, caring for patients with all lymphoma diagnoses excepting those that are HIV associated.

Her main research interests include the technical development of gene expression technologies for formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue, blood and tissue-based lymphoma biomarker research predominantly in rare lymphoma subtypes and in the prevention and early detection of late effects of treatment, and prognosis and treatment of lymphomas. She is a member of the NCRN lymphoma low grade and biology subgroups.

Dr Linton is a member of Royal College of Physicians, Association of Cancer Physicians, Medical Protection Society, National Cancer Research Network low grade and biology subgroups, MCRC Lymphoma Biobank Board, Salford Citizen Scientist Committee, Lymphoma Translational Research Group (chair), Christie Undergraduate Board and the Critical Care Delivery Group

As well as speaking English Dr Linton also speaks Afrikaans.

Dr Fiona Blackhall is a Consultant Medical Oncologist based at The Christie Foundation NHS Trust in Manchester.

She is Lung Cancer Research Group Lead at Manchester Cancer Research Centre and the Lung Disease Group Chair at The Christie.

Dr Blackhall was a undergraduate at St Andrews and Manchester Universities.  She undertook an intercalated BSc in St Andrews in the laboratory of Dr Peter Bryant in the field of radiobiology and DNA repair, and commenced Medical Oncology training at The Christie Hospital in 1995.

Dr Blackhall's overall objective is to contribute clinically relevant lung cancer research to improve outcomes for lung cancer patients and ultimately to make lung cancer a less common and less deadly disease.

Professor Robert Hawkins is a Professor of Medical Oncology based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

Prof Hawkins attended medical school at Cambridge University and University College London and trained in Medical Oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital and Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, and obtained a PhD in antibody engineering at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, where he was a Fellow with Dr Greg Winter and Dr Cesar Milstein. As a Cancer Research UK Senior Clinical Fellow he developed translational research interests in antibody based gene therapy. He was appointed as a Consultant in Medical Oncology at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge in 1995 and then became Professor of Oncology at the University of Bristol in 1996 before undertaking his current role at the Christie as Professor of Medical Oncology in 1998.

His main clinical interests are in renal(Kidney)/adrenal cancers, focusing on immunotherapy. He leads the Christie Renal Oncology Service and undertakes a large number of clinical trials, Specialising in the delivery of high dose interleukin-2 as a potentially curative treatment for selected patients with renal cancer.

Professor Hawkins holds Memberships of Committees and Professional Bodies on the American Society for Gene Therapy (ASGT); International Society for Biological Therapy of Cancer (ISBTC); British Association for Cancer Research (BACR); American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO); European Society for Gene and Cell Therapy (ESGCT) and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).

Dr Anne Armstrong is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at The Christie in Manchester.

After qualifying from Bristol University in 1995 Dr Armstrong underwent specialist training at The Christie.  She was awarded a PhD from The University of Manchester in 2002 investigating the use of vaccines against cancer.

Anne was appointed as a consultant medical oncologist in 2007 at The Christie and subsequently as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester.

Dr Armstrong has an active roll in clinical research and is a member of the NCRN Breast Clinical Studies Group, and the NICE Familial Breast Cancer Guideline Development Group. She is the principal investigator for a number of clinical trials and also sits on the National Cancer Research Network breast clinical studies group.

Dr Adrian Bloor is a Consultant Haematologist based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Bloor qualified from Cambridge and University College London Hospital. He has been a consultant at The Christie since 2006 and is lead clinician for lymphoproliferative disorders, the haematology research team, and clinical director of the stem cell transplantation programme and The Christie’s Clinical Trials Coordination Centre.

Dr Bloor is a member of the National Cancer Research Institute chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) trials subgroup, secretary to the executive committee of the UK CLL Forum and a member of the medical advisory panel to the Lymphoma Association. He is also an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Manchester.
