Dr Jurjees Hasan

Dr Jurjees Hasan is a Consultant Medical Oncologist based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

Dr Hasan graduated in India, and undertook his specialist training in the UK. He joined the Christie Foundation Trust in 2005 when he was appointed to the post of medical oncologist.

Dr Hasan’s sub speciality interests include gynaecological malignancies, colorectal cancer and carcinoma of unknown primary site and he is the lead medical oncologist for gynaecological malignancies in the southern sector of the Greater Manchester Cancer Network. He also provides an outreach clinic at Stepping Hill Hospital where he has developed a chemotherapy service for colorectal cancers.

Mr Finlay Curran

Mr Finlay Curran is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon based at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Mr Curran provides high quality care. He qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1989 and then trained in Merseyside, Glasgow and Manchester. He also sent time in Tubingen, Germany on a Royal College Travelling Fellowship. He was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in 2001, initially working in Stockport, then moving to Manchester Royal Infirmary in 2010.

Mr Curran specialises in endoscopy and hernia, colorectal and pelvic floor surgery. He performs both laparoscopic and open surgery.

Mr Curran has been involved in research throughout his career. He was the UK lead for an international multi-centred trial and has participated in other national trials within surgery. He has published in scientific journals and presented award winning research nationally and internationally. He is a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain & Ireland, an examiner for the University of Manchester and a Royal College of Surgeons Tutor.

Mr David Donnelly

Mr David Donnelly is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon based at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Mr Donnelly trained in Medicine at The University of Manchester. After graduation with Honours he undertook training in General Surgery throughout the North West before undertaking extensive specialist training in Colorectal Surgery.  

After completion of his training he was sucessfully appointed to the only Surgical Fellowship in the UK to provide experience in advanced lower GI endoscopy. During this time he underwent training in all aspects of colonoscopy for the diagnosis and treatment of polyps.

Mr Chelliah Selvasekar

Mr Chellia Selvasekar is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Selvasekar qualified in Madras, India, followed by specialist registrar rotation in Manchester. He did two years’ full time clinical research at University College London on minimally invasive treatment in the management of dysplastic lesions, leading to an MD. Following this, Mr Selvasekar spent a year as an international clinical colorectal fellow at the world renowned Mayo Clinic, Minnesota, USA to gain experience in minimally invasive and complex colorectal surgery before completing his surgical training at The Christie Hospital. He is also an accredited colonoscopist for the national bowel cancer screening programme and offers regular diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies.

Mr Selvasekar established laparoscopic colorectal surgery at the Christie Hospital and at Leighton Hospital, has performed over 300 laparoscopic colorectal resections to date and offers surgical treatment for all aspects of general and colorectal surgery. He also visited the IRCAD centre in Strasbourg and the University of Chicago as a travelling fellow to gain experience in robotic colorectal surgery.

Mr Selvasekar is an ALSGBI recognised preceptor, training colorectal surgeons and specialist registrars in laparoscopic colorectal surgery, and is a national trainer for laparoscopic colorectal surgery through the DoH established LAPCO programme. He holds an honorary lecturer contract with the University of Liverpool and is a member of the faculty of trainers at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh on the surgical courses and is also an examiner for the MRCS.

Mr Selvasekar Introduced minimally invasive (Laparoscopic and Robotic) colorectal surgery at the Christie and the clinical chair for the Enhanced recovery programme and the patient safety committee. He is also the lead for the colorectal subgroup of the colorectal clinical subgroup at the Greater Manchester and Cheshire cancer network.

At the christie he is a full time colorectal surgeon participating in the management of complex colorectal, anal conditions and pseudomyxoma peritonei.

Dr Greg Wilson

Dr Greg Wilson is a Consultant Medical Oncologist based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

Dr Wilson has interests in breast cancer, colorectal cancer and targeted liver therapies such as SIRT and ChemoSaturation.

He sees private patients at The Christie Clinic in Manchester, The Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle, The London Oncology Clinic and The Harley Street Clinic in London.

He graduated in Medicine from the University of Glasgow in 1988 and after working as a junior doctor in the UK, spent four years in Australia, working firstly in General Medicine and then latterly at advanced trainee level in Medical and Radiation Oncology in Sydney. After returning to the United Kingdom, he completed Specialist Training in Medical Oncology at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds.  He was appointed to the post of Consultant Medical Oncologist at The Christie Hospital, Manchester in 2002.

He is a senior member of the Breast and Colorectal Cancer Groups at The Christie and is closely involved in the Breast and Colorectal Cancer Research Programmes and is principal investigator in national and international trials at The Christie.  

He has a particular interest in the treatment of complex secondary breast and bowel cancer.  He set up, and is Lead Clinician for the Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT) service for secondary liver tumours and the targeted liver tumour programme at The Christie, the biggest contracted NHS/Private SIRT service in the UK.

He is an educational supervisor within the junior doctor programme and a lecturer in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes through the University of Manchester and The Christie NHS Trust.
