Mr Charles Imber is a leading London Teaching Hospital Consultant as well as the Head of Service for Liver Transplantation, based at The Royal Free Hospital London, where he is a Consultant Surgeon in the areas of General and HPB Surgery.

Mr Imber completed his medical degree at Cambridge University, where he also received an honours degree in Oncology and Immunology.   Mr Imber is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

He is a leading expert in all areas of liver and pancreatic cancer performing major open and laparoscopic resections on a regular basis. He was the first surgeon in the UK to perform a robot assisted liver and pancreas resection for cancer at the Princess Grace Hospital. He speaks at International meetings and publishes articles on his research interests regularly including liver surgery for colorectal metastases, cholangiocarcinoma and pancreatic resection for pancreatic cancer, as well as liver transplantation.

Professor John Liu Yin is a Senior Consultant Haematologist and Honorary Professor of Haematology at Manchester Royal Infirmary and The University of Manchester.

Professor Yin graduated from the University of Manchester Medical School in 1975 and trained in Haematology in the Royal Free, North Middlesex and Hammersmith (Royal Postgraduate Medical School) hospitals, London. He was appointed Consultant Haematologist at the Manchester Royal Infirmary in 1985. His clinical interests include leukaemia, myelodysplasia, lymphoma, myeloma and stem cell transplantation.  An international expert in Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and its treatment, he has extensive clinical trial experience and has been principal investigator/coordinator in several UK MRC and NCRI Leukaemia trials.

He was Director of the Bone Marrow Transplant programme in the Manchester Royal Infirmary until 2011 and was previously Chair of the Haematological Oncology Clinical Subgroup of the Greater Manchester and Cheshire Cancer network. He has published over 120 peer reviewed scientific papers, chapters and reviews.

Mr Luciano Nardo is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist.

Mr Nardo trained in Italy, London and Manchester before being appointed as Consultant in Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester, where he worked until 2011. He is an accredited subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery.

Mr Nardo has vast experience in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for the treatment of endometriosis, adhesions, fibroids, ovarian cysts, tubal surgery and other benign gynaecological conditions, and regularly performs complex laparoscopic procedures such as hysterectomy, myomectomy and reversal of sterilisation as day case procedures. He has both clinical and academic interests in pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, infertility, assisted conception, gynaecological endocrinology and hysteroscopic management of uterine abnormalities. He also has expertise in gynaecological ultrasound scan and management of early pregnancy problems including recurrent miscarriage.

Mr Nardo is a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and an associate member of many other learned societies including the British Fertility Society (BFS), European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). He is past chair of the BFS training subcommittee and is a preceptor for the BFS special skills modules in Pelvic Ultrasound, Embryo Transfer, Management of the Infertile Couple and Assisted Conception. Mr Nardo has a strong research programme and is currently co-investigator of several international multicentre research trials. He has published widely on many aspects of gynaecology, reproductive and surgery, is a member of the editorial board of Reproductive BioMedicine Online and is regularly an invited speaker at national and international conferences.

Dr Andrew Sykes is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

Dr Sykes qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1989 and after gaining MRCP moved to the Christie to train as an Oncologist. He was appointed as a Consultant at the Christie in 1997, with an interest in head and neck and skin cancers.

In the field of Head and neck cancer Dr Sykes uses complex IMRT planning, with or without synchronous chemotherapy.  He is also active in research, being involved in a number of trials of palliative chemotherapy.

Dr Sykes treats non-melanoma skin cancer with radiotherapy and also runs a Vismodegib clinic for advanced basal cell carcinoma. He also provides radiotherapy support to the melanoma group.

Dr Sykes is Chairman of the Christie Hospital drug and therapeutics’ committee and is a council member of the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists.

Mr Sean Loughran is a Consultant Head and Neck and Thyroid surgeon based at Manchester Royal Infirmary, Salford Royal hospital and the Christie hospital.

He is currently lead clinician at Manchester Royal Infirmary.  

Following basic surgical training at Newcastle and London, Mr Loughran undertook registrar training in Glasgow followed by a specialist inter- collegiate fellowship in head and neck cancer at Newcastle. He was awarded the inter-collegiate gold medal by the Royal Society of Medicine for outstanding performance and first rank in the combined Royal College of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland fellowship examination in ENT surgery.

Mr Loughran has a particular expertise in head and neck cancer diagnosis and surgery as well as a very large thyroid surgical practice.  He is currently regional lead for medullary thyroid and paediatric thyroid cancer, as well as being lead clinician for paediatric head and neck cancer surgery.

Mr Loughran is married with 2 children and enjoys golf and fishing when time allows.

Dr Michael Leahy is a Consultant Medical Oncologist based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Leahy specialises in the management of patients with sarcoma and testicular cancer.  He graduated from St. George’s Medical School and trained in Oncology at the Royal London Hospital and St Bartholomew’s and then at Christie Hospital, Manchester.  He spent six years at the University of Leeds as Senior Lecturer in Medical Oncology and is now based at The Christie Hospital in Manchester as medical oncologist on the supra-regional sarcoma and testicular cancer multi-disciplinary teams.

He has a particular interest in developing services for teenagers and young adults with cancer and is Clinical Director for the Young Oncology Unit at Christie.

His main research interests are clinical trials in sarcomas.
